About Srividhya Sensei

Srividhya sensei, or Vidhya sensei as she is popularly known, co-founded Sakuraa Nihongo Resource Centre in the year 2000.

Her expertise spans four major areas – Japanese Language Training, Translations, Interpretations & Japanese culture, and business etiquette coaching.

A Gold-Medallist Biochemistry postgraduate from the prestigious Madurai Kamaraj University, she embarked upon her career journey with the famed AstraZeneca in 1990 and, laterally moved to the much-celebrated Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru.

She was selected based on merit and attended the teacher’s training program by The Japan Foundation at Urawa, Saitama in 2009. She also secured First place in a Japanese essay contest conducted at Bangalore University in 2012.

A firm believer in effectively utilizing time she has juggled many responsibilities at the same time, efficiently. She wears these multiple hats with elan.

She has been the President of the Bangalore Nihongo Kyoushikai (http://bnkindia.in/) for two terms (2012-2014 & 2018 – 2022). BNK India is responsible for the announcement and execution of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test in Bangalore in coordination with the Japan Foundation, New Delhi. She has been responsible for primarily devising and executing the Online application system for the JLPT exam in Bangalore. The number of applications categorically increased after converting the application system from offline to online.

She has been responsible for conducting the Speech contest in Bengaluru to encourage learners of the language to hone their skills and develop them constructively. Under her Presidentship, BNK India Co-sponsored and ably supported the The JBPC – Japanese Business Pitch Contest organized by The Japan Foundation and The Consulate of Japan in Bengaluru.

Despite the pandemic situation, under her leadership, the BNK team also managed to conduct the JLPT exam in 2021, following all Covid protocols. This was very encouraging for the language learners who had missed the exam 3 times in a row due to its cancellation.

Srividhya sensei is also an honorary member of the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI) & the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry ( FICCI)

Srividhya sensei is also one of the foremost proponents of The Japan Habba (https://japanhabba.org/) – the largest celebration of Japanese culture in India. She has been the chairperson of this trust since its inception in January 2015. Over the years this cultural extravaganza has also become digital to accommodate the ever-growing audience from just Bengaluru to a worldwide audience.

She was also responsible for infusing the concept of Japanese Job fairs & Japanese Higher study workshops as part of Japan Habba to make sure it is delivered as a wholesome Indo-Japanese experience. The Japan Habba platform provides opportunities for language enthusiasts and Japanese language schools to interact such that keen learners can land the right opportunity to enhance their skills
